Summary: Jesus said, “Blessed are the peacemakers.” But it often seems like conflict and disagreement are unavoidable. Serious, divisive conflict is everywhere-within families, in the church, and out in the world. And it can seem impossible to overcome its negative force in our lives. In The Peacemaker, Ken Sande presents a comprehensive and practical theology for conflict resolution designed to bring about not only a cease-fire but also unity and harmony. Sande takes readers beyond resolving conflicts to true, life-changing reconciliation with family members, coworkers, and fellow believers. Biblically based, The Peacemaker is full of godly wisdom and useful suggestions that are easily applied to any relationship needing reconciliation.

strengths of this Resource:  Sande writes that, “Peacemakers are people who breathe grace.”  This book is a great balance of biblical exposition and practical application.  It is a resource that helps us breathe grace into all kinds and levels of conflict.  He encourages throughout the book by giving testimonies of reconciliation and restoration of churches wracked by division, friendships hurt by gossip and marriages on the brink of destruction.  He also has very practical advice and steps to be proactive. There are great application questions at the end of each chapter that would be very helpful individually and in community.  Finally, the appendices are excellent resources.

Who Should use this Resource:  This is a Struggle Resource.  This would be a great resource for families as they seek to set a foundation for resolving conflict in such a way that it is redemptive and not destructive.  I have the resource in my office and it can be found here.
